Madame Clinton provided a nice array of possibilities for the integration of reading and writing in the classroom. I particularly enjoyed her use of immersion art as a method of truly investing students in the subject matter. I am currently pondering the possible effects of continuing such activities throughout the semester or year, allowing a small portion of the class to change their identities as we progress through various books and seeing how characters interact.

I thoroughly enjoyed your workshop today. As a new person to the wonderful world of English and teaching English, I am more encouraged to pursue this professional. I thought that all of the activities that you presented were very appropriate and fun to do, even as an adult. I can see these activities being effective in reading and understanding literature. I love the concept on giving choice and letting them think that they are in control of that project. I know that that would've kept me more engaged in the work.
I also enjoyed writing the symbol poem. I believe that I am a mix between formula and poetry writers. I was that student that was, and still is to an extent, very formula based. So, I did enjoy having some creativity come out. Thank you.

Maria, I enjoyed your workshop. The museum activity is very appropriate, since it addresses several standards at once. The students have an opportunity to apply their creativity as well as their analytical skills. I also got some new insights about the literature circles. Giving students the "choice" of selecting their books, and the amount of reading will certainly engage them. They will feel accountable for the assignments.

On a personal note, in one of the workshop activities, I picked the character of Daisy Buchanan from the hat. I appreciated an opportunity to write a poem. :)
Thank you.
Warm Regards,
Pratibha

Maria's lecture was very entertaining and engaging. I'm very happy that she incorporates the Literature Circles into her lesson plans because it allows more diverse reading choices for the students. Giving the students "choice" in their book choices and the amount of reading they do each week is a very constructive way to empower and draw their interest in the material. I can go on and on about this, but appreciated her acknowledgement of the different types of writers (as Matt said above) and how to approach them and interest them in writing.

It was great to hear how Maria wanted to discover new ways to include incentives for the "different types of writers" to engage in writing. Also, I liked many of the project ideas for the literature circles. Overall, the seminar was great; however, I wish we had more time for discussion. Until next time, thanks!

This program provided fantastic creative ideas that I'm excited to incorporate in both drama and English classes. Maria was very engaging and demonstrated wonderful ways to engage students in the act of writing.
